Bradley University's Homecoming 2023 Tailgate
Bradley Braves end homecoming strongly by showing off their school pride at the Homecoming 2023 tailgate.
Bradley University’s students, friends, family and faculty members united together to celebrate the end of Homecoming 2023 at Bradley University. The festivities took place at Shea Stadium where the Homecoming 2023 tailgate was held before the Homecoming Soccer game between Bradley University and Missouri State.
“To be honest, since I’m a senior and it’s my last year here at Bradley, it’s making me a little emotional knowing this is the last time I’ll be a part of this,” Trenton Paul said.
Tailgate parking spots
The tailgate was filled with individual parking spots used to bring people together by grilling and playing games, such as spike ball. Like many other groups at the tailgate, Bradley’s ACBU, who coordinated the homecoming events, turned their parking spot into a cookout to grill food, such as hot dogs.
The organization behind the planning of homecoming activities and events, ACBU, joined in the festivities along with the rest of Bradley University. Scott Selke expressed, "As a member of ACBU, it's truly fulfilling to witness these events come to fruition."
Braves showing off their spirit
Around the tailgate, Bradley students were dressed from head to toe in red and white, representing Bradley University’s colors, as well as Bradley merch to show off their school and homecoming spirit.
Moreover, students had music playing blasting while dancing and encouraging others people from different groups to join their dance party. They played songs such as Cupid Shuffle, Cha Cha Slide, and Footloose, the song played at the beginning of the Homecoming pageant.
Jon Hadad, a student visiting from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, a school of almost 40,000 students said, “I’m here visiting my friends, and it’s fascinating to see such big enthusiasm from a smaller school.”
Not only were there students supporting their soccer team at the Homecoming game, but other D1 athletics as well. Familiar faces from the D1 Basketball team came in support of the D1 Soccer team, showing support for other D1 athletics at Bradley University. Resulting with the Homecoming soccer score being 0-6, Braves still showed their support and encouragement for their soccer team’s next game.
