Bradley student accidentally breaks Great Lakes Regional Championship basketball trophy after safekeeping it
Starting player and Bradley Club Basketball Vice President Josh Garland was put in charge of safekeeping the prestigious trophy, however while he was delivering it to Markin, tragedy struck
Although the trophy was broken, Josh Garland was fortunately able to purchase a replacement which is on its way to the winners of the Great Lakes Regional Championship. As mentioned in Garland’s accounting, the team also received custom medals in the mean time. Ashley Edgeworth, another volleyball player who was present at Markin when Garland dropped the trophy, was not available for comment on audio, however she was able to provide a recounting of the event via text message. According to Edgeworth, “He walked in with the trophy and was showing it off to everyone telling us he was going to take it to the office so they could deliver it to the team. He saw that the office was closed and so we all started walking out of Markin when he put the trophy in his backpack with a huge hole in the bottom. I was on my phone but I heard a loud thud and cracking noise, locked down and saw the trophy in like five pieces”. Edgeworth was able to provide a photo of the trophy after it had shattered.
