Adapting to College Life, a Maid Cafe and the Impact of Basketball focuses of COM 360 Students
The Diversity and Inclusion Team takes a look into experiences and influences involving and pertaining to Bradley University students.
Bradley University students come from many walks of life. Many students have little college knowledge, some students move to the U.S. from other countries and some students are influenced by basketball heroes. Students of COM 360 took a look at various topics surrounding these walks of life.
First Gen & First Experiences
Bradley University’s student body features many students who are first-generation students, meaning they are the first ones of their immediate family to pursue a four-year college degree. Abby Skinner interviewed two first-generation students and documented their challenges and experiences. Bradley Univeristy’s student body also features many students who come from outside of the United States. Casandra Torres spoke to Bradley alum Andrea Larson about her decision to come to Bradley and her experiences overall.
Maid Cafe makes for Educational Experience
Stephanie Mahrt attended the Maid Cafe in the Romeo B. Garrett Cultural Center, hosted by the Asian American Association, and documented the atmosphere.
Basketball Stars Leaving Lasting Impact
Lastly, Matthew Eggen highlights how two of Bradley University’s greatest men’s basketball players have left an impact on the city of Peoria and Bradley University basketball as a whole.
